I use FireFox for my browser. It's faster, safer and nicer to use. The Michigan's Otherside website actually looks and behaves better using FireFox. I looked at it the other day with Explorer and some parts look totally different! There's a wide gap between areas and all kinds of strange quirks. So if you don't have it, visit our homepage and click on the FireFox logo at the bottom and download it. You'll like it much better! Boycott Microsoft!

Cool

hahahahhh! It's amazing how many people don't want to change from Explorer:0 I was just bummed when I noticed the differences with the site between the two browsers. I like the tab system Mozilla has and it does load stuff a lot quicker.

I was never going to use Firefox but then Doug told me all of the wonderful things about it so I gave it a shot---and have not looked back. Very Happy

It's stripped down and simplified. IE comes standard with a bunch of garbage you don't need.
IE has benchmarked tons of stuff from Firefox over the years such as the tabbing system that the newest version of IE just adopted. That's what made me use FireFox to begin with, the tapping system. Plus, it just seems faster to me and you can do cool things like customize the look of your browser with skins, kinda like you can on WinAmp.
If you decide to download it, make sure you download it from our website:) We get 1.00 if anyone downloads it from our site. The links are on the contact page and on the homepage at the bottom.
But besides the dollar!!! (it's not all about the Washingtons!), I honestly like it better and that's how I designed the Michigan's Otherside website to look best in. It looks different in IE than in Firefox. IE puts a frame on the front page and things are a little off in the browser.

Ok, I'm done pimping Firefox now:)

HAHAHAHAHAH! Steve you crack me up!!!!

Also, while we're on the topic of converting, I recently tried a Mac and I have to say I was impressed! I had never been on one and I kept saying, "Where's the tower..." but there isn't one. The whole computer is like a lap top! The only think I didn't like was the fact you couldn't right click to do things. You still have to go up to the menu on top and do it the old fashioned way for cut and copy and things like that.

I love firefox, I've used it for years and even paid for a version. You can change the look with themes, Tabbed way before the copycat IE. IE loads slower, open to more viruses, There are other choices available too,
Opera, From Opera Software:
http://www.opera.com/
Opera introduces Speed Dial which vastly improves navigation to your favorite sites. In addition, there's Fraud protection, an anti-phishing detection keeps browsing safe and secure. Other unique features include innovative widgets and a strong pop-up blocker. Tabbed browsing and saved sessions further increase browsing efficiency. You can also add your favorite search engines to the search bar and use beautiful skins to personalize your browser. Version 9.25 includes unspecified updates.
Maxthon, http://www.maxthon.com/feature.htm This is another nice browser, lots of features. There are more but these are the ones I'd recommend over IE
Just trying to be helpful

I have all 4 (I'm not an internet junky, I'm not, I'm not)

Firefox has a new beta release available to download, I have been testing it and love it so far, seems way faster and no crashes as of yet. The only downside is my add-ons aren't compatible with it yet.

Hmmm old and slow to change? I'm 51 and I love looking programs to try....... I am always searching. I have three hard drives and just had to remove stuff cause they all were almost full. I just built another computer and have started adding some wild programs on that, just incase this crashes and I lose everything.

Hah:) I myself had to get a second hard drive fro all my mpeg files from my video camera. I never thought I would be able to use over 300 gig but I can do it no problem! My very first computer had only 2 gig of space on it!

Ummmm .... My first computer was a ...... vic 20 I didn't have a hard drive ... or windows.... or dos... I would type code for hours just to make a program that would change text colors.
Then I got modern..... I got a tandy 1000 with a cassette drive for saving your program. I was then able to find programs someone else made I could load into cassette drive.
Then came the 8086 when you loaded stuff with 5 1/4 extremely floppy disc.
Finally it got a little modern with the 286's and 386's
My first nice computer for its day was a 486 dx2 with a 450 meg hard drive. (all my friends said why did you go so big you'll never fill it. ) well I filled it. I also had 8 mega bytes of memory it was loaded. Memory back then was .... $88.00 a meg. This computer cost over $3000 it was around 1988 or 89. Internet was dos based back.
Since then I've built many many computers..... I have 5 networked right now and two laptops. I love computers, but I'm not an addict.... I'm not an addict, I'm not an addict.
I am now playing around with something called slingbox., its made for television but I'm trying to use it for security............ !!!!!!Idea!!!!!! Paranormal groups could go this route and stream the camera feeds to be monitored by someone at home, it would cut down on the number of investigators invading someones home.

That would be an idea! Someone watching from home would be a really cool thing to do. Not being in the actual setting, they might see things from a different angle.

It's so funny when you look back at computer history! We used to only have one single computer in our classroom in 4th grade and all the kids would fight over who was going to play Oregon Trail at the next recess! It's so funny!
