We all know ghost hunting equipment isn't cheap. Well you can save if you shop around online. Harbor freight has infrared non contact thermometer for $39.00
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/D ... mber=96451
You can find securitylabs quad monitors for under $50.00 usually here.
http://www.bidtopia.com/detail.aspx?id=333024
I will say always read the ratings of an item and don't buy 3 star or below, and watch the shipping costs.
Now infrared cameras for this monitor can be found for $44.00 each so if you get everything you save from
$100. 00 to $400.00 http://www.overstock.com/Electronics/Se ... oduct.html?
Another auction site that you can get great deals on all sorts of items http://1800lastbid.com/ The only thing here is a lot of it is used and you have to pick it up. The main branch is in Byron Center next to Grand Rapids. I will say that the prices here have been going up as it gets more popular. I bought 10 computers from here for $6.00 a piece and they all worked. Lately the prices are higher, $20-$100 on average.
Another auction site that you can score a deal is
http://www.shopgoodwill.com/ This site the prices are going up lately too.
Hopefully I helped save some people some money.

Great info Ugly! Tom needs to get on here and read this post. Yeah, there's no reason to pay top dollar for the equipment ghost hunter experiment with. My non-contact thermo came off Ebay back in the day.
Harbor Freight is a favorite of Tom's and they just introduced it to me. If you need heavy duty cases with the foam inside to protect your equipment and also have a lock on them, get them at Harbor Freight. They are around 25 bucks and well worth it.

Just thought I'd post this on here. I found it while doing some research for new cameras. Some fella on craigslist was trying to sell me a Hi8 Handycam from 4+ years ago for $200 w/o all the accessories...and then I stumbled upon this bargin.

Sony Handycam DCR-HC28 MiniDV Camcorder
Only over a year old I believe. I read it came out February '07.

While lots of online retailers are still selling it from $250-$400, Circuit City has it going for $99.
Check it out HERE.

Just thought I'd pass that along. Seems like it'd be a great priced MiniDV video camera for any investigators.
I'm picking up at least one.

What! High 8's are selling for that much still? I have one just rotting in the closet. I got sick of converting analog to digital. I ended up buying a Sony HD Digital cam with a built in hard drive so I can just move those files in a second! It's so nice! But I'm stunned people are selling those for that much!

Anybody happen to know where some decent equipment cases can be found?
Carrying around 1 or 2 camera bags is cool, but now we're to the point we're lugging numerous cargo bags around and it's really starting to get a bit ridiculous. Just looking for some safe, and organized means of storing and transporting equipment.

This one at harbor freight is pretty decent, and only $30
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=39196

The compartments are adjustable for snug equipment. Seems quite functional.

Was just curious if anyone else knew of any alternatives.
Thanks!
