So recently I decided to started learning Reiki. If you aren't familiar with what Reiki is, it's a hands on healing system to help balance the chakras and help heal the body. I've heard of Reiki for a long time, but never thought too much about it. A few years ago, a friend of ours started learning Reiki and needed people to practice on. I volunteered and really didn't know what to expect. She had me lay down on a message table and covered me up with a blanket, put some relaxing music and then just started doing the different hand positions on the body that correspond with the chakras. It was very relaxing and I was impressed with how she knew things about my body that she didn't have any past knowledge of. At the time, I had a bad knee and a very sore back from a recent move and she picked up on both those things. I didn't really physically feel anything except for being relaxed during the session. The strange thing was after I got out of the place, my vision had been sharpened in the way that you would have a picture on your computer and sharpened it with a editor (if that makes sense to anyone:)
Everything outside was really crisp and clear.
About a couple weeks ago, I discovered a website based out of Grand Haven, my hometown! I never knew it existed. You can find them at http://www.spiritenergyhealers.com/
I saw they offered Reiki and something in me just went "I have to do this!" So I wrote them and hooked up with Margaret, one of the Reiki teachers. This past Wednesday, I went in to start and got a second Reiki session and it was so crazy at first! As soon as she laid her hands on my head, I felt all this energy start going through my body and of course she picked up on things she didn't know because she just met me!
So now I'm started my Reiki I level and I'm really looking forward to this. There's three levels and for each one, you receive what's called an "attunment" that activates the Reiki energy inside you and puts you on the healing path.
Has anyone on here ever had any Reiki done or happen to be a Reiki practitioner? _________________ Amberrose

I have heard of it before, but never really looked into what it was.
I would have to try it to believe it, but I'm like that with most things, It would be cool if I had the same experience with eye sight as you did Amber. My eye sight is horrible.

Well sadly it only lasted for like, 2 days It's almost like you could tell the energy cleaned out "the cobwebs" or something. Dusted things off.
I"m like you though. I have to try it to believe it. I never really believed much in the whole energy thing and healing until I met Tom. I was at a meeting when we were just Great Lakes Paranormal Research and I was starting to get a headache. Tom at the time had already learned Ama Deus energy healing, a type of Shaminism and he offered to do his "thang!" In my head I thought, "I'll let him do it, but if I don't feel any different I'll just nod and smile. I'm not going to fool myself." So Tom stood behind me, placed his hands on my head and the first thing I noticed was how hot his hands were. They were on fire! (which now I've learned is the sign of energy coming through them). When he was done, my headache lessened, was still there a bit, but ended up going away (about as long as it would take an aspirin to take over) and the air around my head felt "cleaner." Kind of like the vision thing with Reiki. _________________ Amberrose

Amberrose,
do you know of a good Reiki practitioner in the Lansing area? I'm afraid I don't know who to trust and it's no use asking around 'cause most people around here are not very open minded. there is a store in Okemos that might be helpful but every time I've been in there I get weird vibes from the building and need to get out quickly. It's called the (something) Goddess. don't know what it is about that place maybe I get sensory overloaded. The cat that is there is cute and follows me around the store when I do happen to go in. The person there said they hadn't seen that happen before. She called it weird, I think it's because I have cats and it smells them on me and knows I love kitties

Well I did my first attunment last Wednesday so if we ever get to bump into each other, I'll give you a session:)
It was definitly an interesting experience. The whole process doesn't take long but I became instantly relaxed when she started it (which is a major characteristic of Reiki energy). They place symbols into your aura/energy field that basically "tunes" you to the Reiki frequency. My teacher describes it as your body is a radio and they have to adjust the antenna. During the session, they go around your whole body and while she was putting the symbols into my back area, I could feel heat going into my back but she wasn't even touching me. I had a couple of strange images that randomly popped into my head and a very intense dejavu moment as well. Afterwards, I practiced on her and she noticed how flushed my face was. I will say, I felt very different afterwards, almost like I was floating or not attached somehow. I think it will be an interesting journey here on out as I continue to practice. Very cool stuff. _________________ Amberrose

Thanks for the link Debbie and the help offer. I've been enjoying learning Reiki and had to finally just but all my books aside and start practicing. I found I was reading more than "doing," and my Reiki teacher just told me to put all that aside for awhile and just get some hands on training. I'm still in that strange stage where you feel a little silly and you worry if it's going to work or help the person or not but I have to get over that. My cousin today stated he had a headache today and mumbled I should do some Reiki on his head. I just laughed but I should have brushed my insecurities away and just practiced on him. It can only help. _________________ Amberrose

Wow, I had heard of Reiki but never really knew what it was, and come to find out when I was younger I think I actually had it done. I remember feeling a lot of heat coming from the practitioner's hands. Wow, I think I might look more in to this now, Thanks! _________________ damnant quod non intelligunt
