Well I know certain religions like the Native American, believed heavily in animal spirits, were others such as Christianity and Buddhism did not. I am not sure where I fall on the line. I would like to think my dog has a soul, and he will be with my family in the after life, but at the same time, my logic says that souls are one of the things that separate us from the animals.

That being said, however would have nothing to do in a Residual Haunting, as this type of Haunting, is a imprint of one(S) energy left behind (at least that is my hypothesis). If we all emit some sort of energy, including animals, then it would stand to believe that if enough animals were slaughtered in the area, or the animal had a high energy output, then some of that energy could be left behind, creating a Haunting.

i dont know about animals haunting... but after one of our dogs died, a strange dog-shaped carving appeared in our hardwood floor, outside my bedroom door, where he used to sleep a lot

i think if animals do have souls that would have a chance of remaining, they wouldnt... because people have a hard time accepting death and therefore moving on... but if you notice, when an animal knows its going to die, it lets go, it doesnt fight like we do... animals are just more accepting of things happening, so they don't leave their souls behind when they die

does that make sense? makes sense in my head but its hard to explain

Yes Onefriole, I agree with you on what you said. Animals don't have attachment like humans so, so I think that's why you don't really see too many ghost animals, except for residual ones like Lostzac mentioned. But I do think they can stick around and there's something to them when it comes to ghosts. After my cat died, I could have sworn one night I felt something jump up on my bed where she used to sleep. Also, my buddy Tom of Michigan's Otherside is sensitive and practices Shaminism (so he would probably have some input on this one), but anyways, he didn't know my cat had died that year and asked me one day, "did you have a cat?" I said yeah, but she had died and he said, "Well I think she's here with you because I feel a cat rubbing up against my legs." Crazy stuff!

I definitely believe that all living creatures have a "soul" or "life force"....Amber is correct in her description of my shaman practices and my sensitivity to energy forces around me. I believe that human, animal, and plant life, all draw from and are connected to the same life force.

i think the feeling amberrose and cinders aunt felt was just remembering past events

because i feel my (still living) cat jump on my bed all the time, and she hadnt... its just a feeling we get used to and expect to be there (attachment to life) so our mind creates the event over again

i forgot what i was talking about... hehe

oh but yea... i do believe animals have souls... but i dont believe they haunt

I disagree about residual s with animals. My sons' buddy Tigercat (passed on over 4 years ago) had come back a couple of times. I believe that animals are connected and do have souls. I saw Tiger shortly before we had to lay my dog, lady to rest, due to very fast growing cancer, I thought she had come for her daughter, Precious, who has a thyroid condition but it was for Lady. Then last year December I saw her again .. about two weeks before Christmas I came home and found Miss Lilly(our cat) on the floor where she had slid off the back of the couch. She had died peacefully in her sleep in her favorite spot on the back of the couch. I believe Tiger had come for them to guide them to the other side.
I still occasionally hear Lady trotting thru the house. Dogs nails do click on bare floors. So I know they still come back once in awhile.
